Summer Riding Tips: Keeping Kids Safe in the Indian Heat
Indian summers can reach 45°C. Here's how to let your kids enjoy their ride-ons safely during the hottest months.
Riding in the Indian Summer
Temperatures across North India regularly hit 40–45°C from April to June. Kids still want to ride — and they can, with the right precautions.
Best Riding Times
- Morning: 7:00 – 9:00 AM — the coolest part of the day
- Evening: 5:30 – 7:00 PM — after the peak heat subsides
- Avoid: 11 AM – 4 PM — peak sun and heat
Child Safety
- Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+) on exposed skin before riding
- Light-coloured cotton clothes — avoid dark colours that absorb heat
- Cap or hat — protects the head from direct sun
- Water bottle — insist they drink water every 15–20 minutes
- Watch for signs of heat exhaustion: flushed face, excessive sweating, dizziness
Vehicle Care in Heat
Don't leave the vehicle in direct sunlight for hours — the plastic body and seat get uncomfortably hot. Store in shade or cover with a light cloth. Batteries degrade faster in extreme heat — avoid charging in direct sunlight.
