Ride-On Glossary
Product listings are full of jargon. Here's what it all means in plain language.
A–E
- Ah (Amp-hour): Battery capacity. Higher Ah = longer runtime. Common values: 4.5Ah, 7Ah, 10Ah, 12Ah.
- Differential steering: Each rear wheel powered independently — allows sharper, smoother turns.
- Dual motor: Two motors, one per rear wheel. Better power, traction, and speed.
- EVA tyres: Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate foam tyres. Soft, quiet, puncture-proof. The most popular tyre type.
F–P
- Forward/Reverse: Most ride-ons have a gear selector for driving direction.
- Ground clearance: Height between the chassis and ground. Higher = better for rough terrain.
- LED headlights: Working lights powered by the main battery. Decorative + functional for evening rides.
- Parental remote: 2.4GHz radio controller for parents to override the child's controls.
R–Z
- Slow start: Gradual acceleration instead of instant full speed. Prevents jerky starts. Important for toddlers.
- Spring suspension: Metal springs between axle and body that absorb bumps.
- Two-speed: Low gear (slow) and high gear (faster). Usually toggled by a switch or the remote.
- Weight capacity: Maximum child weight the vehicle can safely carry.
