How to Clean and Detail Your Child's Ride-On Vehicle
A clean ride-on looks great and lasts longer. Follow our step-by-step cleaning guide for plastic body, wheels, seats, and electronics.
Step-by-Step Ride-On Cleaning Guide
What You'll Need
- Soft cloth or microfibre towel
- Mild soap or baby shampoo
- Old toothbrush (for crevices)
- Dry towel
Step 1: Power Off and Disconnect
Turn off the vehicle and unplug the battery connector. Never clean a ride-on while it's powered on or charging.
Step 2: Wipe Down the Body
Use a damp cloth with a drop of mild soap. Wipe all plastic surfaces. For stubborn marks, let the soap sit for 30 seconds before wiping. Avoid abrasive scrubbers — they scratch the finish.
Step 3: Clean the Wheels
Use the toothbrush to remove mud, grass, and small stones from wheel treads and axle areas. Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
Step 4: Dashboard and Electronics
Use a barely damp cloth — almost dry. Gently wipe the steering wheel, buttons, and dashboard. Never spray water or cleaner directly on electronic components.
Step 5: Seats
For leather-look seats, wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately. For fabric seats, use a fabric brush or handheld vacuum. Spot-clean stains with baby shampoo.
Step 6: Dry Everything
Wipe all surfaces dry with a clean towel. Let the vehicle air-dry in shade for 30 minutes before reconnecting the battery.
Do this once a month and your ride-on will look showroom-fresh for years.
